Hello every one ! I have an elite 360 with a dvd not reading any disk... now, I have a friend with a pro 360 with the rrod error and I was wondering if I could just swap his dvd for my dvd drive that doesnt work ? or do I need to do anything else to get it to work on my 360 ?

It can be swap, but you have to put your key in the replacement drive.
Are both drives the same ? (ben,sam, lite-on or hit)
We need to know what kind of drive you have in your 360 and the replacement drive.

I`ll have to open both boxes and see what brand they are but I`ll have to do it tomorrow.

Ok guys, I fixed it and I didnt need to put in the key !!
All I did was swapped the tray (where the laser is) and that was it. there are two screws and three ribbon cables that need to be unplugged and that`s all it took to get my dead DVD Drive to get it to work. !!

Basically he just took the parts that were bad on his DVD drive and swapped them for the parts on the good drive. Had he swapped the circuit boards though, he would have needed to get the key and flash and/or spoof it.

I was thinking of taking pictures of what I did.... as soon as I find the camera that`s what I`m going to do cause I`m sure a lot of people could benifitiate from what I have done.
If your DVD drive stops working, all you need to do is get another DVD drive from the same brand and swapped the parts that you need with out getting into flashing and all that good stuff that most people have problems with . ! it only takes about 15 minutes to swap where the laser is from the good DVD drive to your bad drive and the only thing you need to use is a phillips screw driver and maybe a small flat head to push in one of the ribbon cables.
