i got it today so i cleaned off all the old thermal paste and have ordered some arctic silver 5 which should come either tomorrow or wednesday, the only thing is im a little confused as to what to do regarding replacing my x clamps? would it be ok to just use the torx screws that were originally holding them in place or will i need the nylon washers etc as with other x clamp replcement tricks?

If your going to replace them, you would need the washers and bolts, otherwise there would be nothing to hold the heat sinks in place. The original bolts aren't just torx bolts, they are threaded on one side and molded for the x-clamp to slide over and clip onto on the other side.
