dvd drive won't eject after x-clamp fix
dvd drive won't eject after x-clamp fix
I got the rrod so i decided to do the x-clamp fix. It worked out until my dvd drive spit out/ ejected the game while still spinning and the 1,3 red lights started flashing. After that i could not get the drive to close unless i did it manually. Now when i boot up the system the green led keeps flashing as if the drive is opening or closing. Also when i press the eject button nothing happens even when i press open on the dash board it says opening or closing but nothing is happening. Any help/advice will be very useful thank you
Re: dvd drive won't eject after x-clamp fix
get the error code that is on the box.
turn on the box
after the red lights start.
push and hold the sinc button
hit the eject it will flash the first number all four is " 0 "
then hit the eject for the rest of the numbers
let us know what the error code is.
i would bet it a hard ware error again.

Re: dvd drive won't eject after x-clamp fix
ok i'll try and get the code so we can better understand the situation. I replaced the fan shroud but now the 360 will not over heat in order to retrieve the code so i took it back off and its still not overheating. As its powered up the fan is going really fast and the power green led in the middle keeps flashing as if the dvd drive is opening or closing but its not actually doing anything?
ok so now i took out the fan completely and yes it over heats and i get error code 0011(over heating - If you are receiving this error after disassembling your console make sure to all 8 of the heatsync screws are tightened securely to the board/heatsink holes.). I have checked the screws and made sure that they are secure. Once the fan is in its proper place and shroud is in place the system doesn't over heat but im not receiving any response for the dvd drive not sure what to do next. Thanks

Re: dvd drive won't eject after x-clamp fix
When quadrants 1 and 3 are blinking, thats an overheating error. But I think you found that much out.
As for the drive, if you have a connectivity kit, you can attach the drive to your computer to see if you can see any signs of live from it. If you don't have a connectivity kit, you need a way of testing the drive to see if its the drive thats went bust or if its something to do with your 360 itself. Inspect the cables (sata and power) to make sure they have a good connection. Maybe even try it in a different 360 just to see if you can get the drive to power up and eject.

Re: dvd drive won't eject after x-clamp fix
sorry i don't have a connectivity kit nor another xbox to test the drive on. The xbox is no longer overheating but i can't get the drive to work. Is there a way to see if its the drive itself or the drives board? if i cn get a hold of another 360 does it have to be the same type of drive to test it? another words can i test it on a 360 that has a hitachi drive in it? thanks for the help guys.
Re: dvd drive won't eject after x-clamp fix
It can be any 360. You just want to see if you can get the drive to power up and eject. Obviously, without dumping the drive that you would be testing it in and spoofing your drive to match that one, you wouldn't be able to play 360 games, but you can see if it will power up and eject. And it should play DVD movies just fine if you get that far with it.

Re: dvd drive won't eject after x-clamp fix
i know its been a while but i finally got to another 360 to test my drive. The results showed that when i hooked up my friends dvd drive in my 360 it ejected, but when i hooked up my dvd drive in his 360 it didn't eject or do anything for that matter. I would like to know since i have to replace the drive can i still use the my old dvd's board with the firmware and place it in the new dvd drive? thanks for the help.
Re: dvd drive won't eject after x-clamp fix
well you can try just changing the board as long as it the same dvd drive that the console had to start with.that may work.
i would just flash the new drive, and spoof it if need be.

Re: dvd drive won't eject after x-clamp fix
as long as you get the same dvd drive v28.
then just take your hacked firmware that you have and flash it in.
open it in firmware toolbox first to make sure the key is in it and good.
i would flash it in by doing a restore, but instade of putting in the orig firmware i would put in a copy of your hacked from the last time.
here is a guide to flash a restore.

Hey did you try changing out the little cable that connects the drive to the box? Maybe borrow your friends again and see if his cable works on yours.
