Alright fellas,
since i'm snowed in and worked closed, i just thought tried to hack this drive. it's going to be crazy for a few days till superbowl 45. we don't get that much snow and ice here in Arlington, but when we do, you can't go anywhere with the streets covered in ice.
I have read up and looked on some tutorials on flashing this drive but don't know what parts i need to accomplish this task. I have ck3 lite kit to power the drive, need solder stuff? can someone link me to a good site that sells the solder things? i'm gonna practice some soldering on my old motherboard, a resistor ? what kind 18ohm resistor?, and what the heck is those wires that you used to link it cofree? i am a total newbie and this is my first time soldering, but with a guide, i think i can do it.
I will be using cofree's tutorial and this guy is pretty good too i think...
http://xboxhack.org/xbox-hack/xbox-360- ... oms-video/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; sorry if the link is dead guys.
also, on cofree's tutorial, when i cut the 3 traces, can i use a swiss army knife to cut it or do i need to use some special tool (like cofree used).
sorry for the long post and hopefully this will help others as well.
much thanks!

You can use a knife a screw driver, box cutter whatever you like. A trace is a small layer of copper, it doesnt take much to cut through it.
Your going to need a soldering iron, try and get a 20 watt, or a multi watt iron. 15 - 20 watt is the best, anything higher and you run the risk of damaging the board, or not getting a good joint.
To be honest, I'd recommend getting an LT switch, theyre damn easy to install, and have the added benefit of being able to switch modes without re soldering. Which means you can lose your OFW, and to dump the drive all you need to do is flip a switch on the lt clip itself.

You can buy an iron from pretty well any hardware stores, if you want to buy one online I honestly dont know where to look.

i was looking at this one at radio shack http://www.radioshack.com/product/index ... Id=3348441" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
i know it's kind of high but want to get a good one because i might use it for other projects rather than buying a crappy one and will break down.
is this brand pretty reliable?
