Xbox 360 Cleaning?

Post by hotrod44866 »

Hello, i flashed my 360 with lt1.1, and when i play games it has a funny line running across it or certain colors flash/blink. i have tried like 10-15 games and they all do it whether i am hooked up hdmi or component. my other 360 doesnt do it and i flashed them both same time with same firmware. could it just need cleaned? I know they are different chipsets but cant remember which ones. maybe its a problem with the chipset? Anyone else had this problem?

Edit: I ripped it apart and cleaned the eye with a q tip and rubbing alcohol. It still does it no better or worse. I did kick that big ass dust bunny out though. It has a falcon chipset and my other has has the shit zepher or whatever. Shouldnt make a difference though right? It also does it when you first turn it on at the xbox screen. Any help is appreciated

is that fixable? x clamp or reflow. I was going to flash to lt 1.2 to see if maybe bad flash? but my other works fine and I did the exact same thing. My other one though doesnt have hdmi.

it may be the tv input, but it is probably the xbox gpu acting up, looks like e74 to me. and let it run for a day playing a game and see what happens. Reflow should work after you get an error.

Its not the tv input as i use the same hdmi cord for my ps3. Do you think it is worth reflashing and keeping or should I unload it and get a jasper? I am afraid if I run it too long It may get RROD, then I got to find someone with a reflow station and I dont know what that will run. too bad its not Jtaggable or I would use it as a donor lol.

You are right I am in the States. I know of a guy with a reflow station about 1 hour away. I am still unsure if its worth putting money/time into. I may just use the other hooked up component(whhhaaaaaa) till the new 360 can be modded and proves its not a POS. or I guess i always have the PS3 i am trying to get shit together for winter cause I have little time for games in summer lol. thanks for your input and I agree that reflashing will be a waste of time for it cause i remember it doing it a year ago before I re-flashedbut not as bad). I think I may buy an elite(jasper?) and flash until new xbox shows its worthy. Thanks man for your time and have fun. Rod

Just xclamp it, you should be fine.

Xclamps work, but they dont last... Actually I take that back, they do last, but not often.

I know its been a bit, been SUPER busy, but I didnt think of xclamping it. would that be better than reflowing it or reballing(???New to me I will do more research) It will cost me $50 to get reflowed. I agree i will get this worked out and take it to gamestop to trade on a falcon chipset. buddy of mine did the xclamp thing then it rrod on him again 6 mths later so he did the towel trick and turned it to gamestop for an elite :D Maybe I will follow in his footsteps. thanx

Reballing is the way to go, but its expensive if you cant do it yourself.

You might as well xclamp it and use it for a while, it probably will red ring again a few months down the road, then you can do what your friend did, or reball.

You can reflow also, but i'd recommend xclamping first, xclamp replacements are quite easy, reflowing and reballing are harder tasks.

Hello, I did the xclamp trick and it didnt do nada. So I Pulled the fan let it overheat, and cool, and it works flawlessly. I bought some additional heatsinks off ebay as well to help? I was thinking about upgrading the fan should I buy one or maybe try the old 12v mod. I assume it is like the old days with the original xbox. Anyways thanks for the great advice.
