Better? Iprep 8.8 or Newest Jungle Flasher for LiteOn Drive

Post by Kanobi »

I just wanted to hear the opinions of everyone...especially the admins. Which would u refer using for a new LiteOn Drive.

I just received my new ck3 Pro with probe. I checked out Cofree's video tut, and it seemed easy, i was gonna go with that method. But than i realized that my kit has the usb port and the serial port, and i noticed that cofree used the serial adapter, along with a cable attached to it, but in the video it...if i'm not mistaked, it doesn't say which type of cable, or for what reason the cable is used....no big deal. My only question was, that the kid i received they sent me only a usb cable.

Could do the same method as the iprep 8.8 video, but do it using the usb cable?

2nd, in the video it mentioned that to save the key, and original fw file, after the reading process i would shut the computer down and save the information from the usb drive. My only question is, with the liteon drive still on, at that moment. Would i want to shut down the liteon drive, disconnect it from the computer and than turn on the computer? Or what would be the procedure from there on out? Especially, what do i do in regards to booting back up to do the flash process? Do i do the whole eject and power off process again?

Once again...as usual...everyone's help is greatly appreciated!

cofree was using the serial port, the serial port is how the key and all the other information is read when using iPrep. keeping in mind you're using the probe or the 707 points have been bridged. iprep doesn't work with usb so you'd have to use that with jungleflasher. i say use iPrep, after the dump, you don't have to turn off the drive or disconnect anything, leave it as is, reboot the pc, go in, save the folder in the backup folder, power down and reboot back into ya flash drive. then just do fLit and you should be good from there.

some pc will lock up when you restart
with the sata,rs232 or usb hooked to the dvd drive.

but
yes you can just turn everything off unhook
save a copy of that file then start over

make sure to save all of it
the big one is the dummy.bin file
it has ser info in it that you will not see and you need it.

its preference, some people like iPrep, others jungleflasher, just choose one, i think iPrep is pretty straight forward though

In my experience, I like jungleflasher, but if you have a PC that locks up on the lite-on erase in jungleflasher, then I would say iprep.

I would say use jungleflasher but make sure you have the newest version.. They fixed the freezing problem (at least it doesnt with my computer anymore) which was caused by the via drivers that come with my sata card. Its really upto you they both work just make sure you have the newest of either.
