Disk Brand Matter?

Post by HaGGardSmurf »

Probably one of the most expensive things I will be getting for my flashing process will be dual layer DVD's. I was just pricing them out, and they seem quite expensive.

My question is, do the disk brands matter?

I was looking at that site, and am probably going to buy the memorex disks (the 2.4x) I think the 20 pack will last me a while... Unless of course disk type matters.

I am going to be playing them on a sammy, and in my experience my drive playes disks that others have trouble reading and or dont read at all.

What are your thoughts? (I would like to spend as little money as possible, I am not currently working, and am rapidly running out of money!)

Edit:
I just looked up my burner capabilities, and I can burn DVD+R DL but not DVD-R DL

Yeah dude Verbatim DVD+R DL is the way to go. Some people have had burn problems with the MII spindles. When buying from a store look for MIS, they are the good quality.

MIS = Made in Singapore
MII = Made in India

These “minus“ discs can only be written to in one layer on the discs surface. In addition, this format is supported by the DVD forum, but is in no way an industry standard. DVD-R/RW discs are cheaper than the “plus” format.

The DVD+R/RW format is supported by Philips, Dell, Sony, HP, and Microsoft. These discs can be written to in multiple layers, giving them slightly better and more disc storage than the “minus“ format. Because of this additional capacity, they are slightly more expensive than “minus“ discs.

Alright, so I need not worry about these minus disks as they are inferior to what i need.

Thanks Alot!
