What do I need to flash?

I want to spend as little money as possible, so I basically just want to know what I need, like everything...

This is what I have:

- Samsung drive (More than likely an MS25)
- Torx T-10 (Its being shipped to my house, Its a T-10 I need and not a T-10 H right?)
- Torx T-8H (Bought for my controller, but I can use it if I get RROD I guess)
- VIA VIA VT6421A Chipset (I am looking at buying one online for like 5 USD)
- Sata Cable (The cable comes with the chipset)

What else do I need?

I would prefer not to buy a connectivity kit, I can just use the xbox power and unplug the sata before the drive closes. (Unless using the xbox power increases your chances of getting banned online? I think i read something about it...)

Thats exactly what you need apart from the software (jungle or iprep) and the ixtreme firmware. I'd maybe still recommend the ck3 just for the added safety (microsoft MAY be able to check if its been attached to the 360 during flashing..MAY) but its down to personal preference at the end of the day. I have 2 other xbox's I can flash, so if this one gets banned, I will use the CK3 for the next one.

I dont really know what one I want to use, I think I will probably use iPrep. but jungle seems so easy, yet buggy...

Iprep for me. The Via 6421 card which you've ordered can cause problems with jungle (could uninstal the via drivers etc but it seems a clart on) completely down to which you prefer though.

Oh, ok, good to know. iPrep it is then. Except I have to wait like 2 weeks now The card I was forced to buy is comming out of hong kong.

Just make sure to connect the xbox 360 case to your pc case. I know there is a rare chance that the difference in the ground voltage will ruin anything but why take the chance.

I use my VIA card with JF all the time and haven't had any issues. Except for maybe it sometimes take JF forever to start up.

Yea, I will see about buying a wire with 2 aligator clips on both ends.

I guess as long as I dump the original FW and the key, I should have no problem with anything... Since from what I hear a sammy is near impossible to brick as it can function with no FW in the drive.

u really dont need a wire and croc clips, just put ur case next to ur comp case, so its touching, thats what i do

That's probably not a good idea, the 360 sata cable is very short.

Also, IMHO, it would be best to buy or make a Connectivity kit of some sort.
I got the CK3 Lite w/o the Probe for $35 (I use a paperclip to bridge R707 on all of the LiteOns I do).
If you know some people who own 360s that they would like flashed, you can make your money back easily.

I used the xbox 360 sata to connect my HDD to my motherboard, now I will use my other sata to test if my OBD ports can read the fw.

I dont really see why I need a CK3, I will probably only be flashing at most 3 xbox's. I will only need the CK3 to power the drive, and I am willing to risk the possibility of being banned, also the extra steps when using xbox as power isnt a big deal to me at all. If I am banned, I will buy the CK3 for flashing one of my many other xbox's, and will use my banned console for playing games before they come out.

the CK3 is useful; some people like it and others use the Xbox to power the drive.

a matter of preference at this stage.

I would prefer to use the 360's power, but we shall see, I may end up buying a ck3.
