Well i have bought a 1=120mm fan, 1=90mm fan, and a 1=80mm fan.
Now i have to get a pc case with a power supply.
i believe an atx 420w will be sufficient but i post this in hopes that maybe anyone has any good ideas.
I have seen the lan li and it is quite nice but i dont like the price tag it comes with.
anyone know of any cases that have been used in the past?
also a funny question,,, this 360 to pc will be connected to a lcd 42'' tv, what would be sufficient for the viewing of hd,
a avi to dvi to hdmi conversion for max picture, or a set of the RCA HD AV Audio Cable High Definition?
i eagerly await your wisdom oh great ones..
thanks everyone.

well ive not done one.
the one thing i do know is you have to keep it very cool.
getting the air flow right will be the hard part.

I thought about doing it, but then my 360 died and I bought a new one and added a warranty on it, so no more hacking or me. I'd look into any case you want that the 360 motherboard will fit in, then just drill some holes where the motherboard will need to be screwed it. Look around for some heatsink/fan combos for the 2 chipsets, then just add a bunch of fans, and extend the moles power connector and get a longer SATA cable. In theory, no that difficult.

I agree that it shouldn't be that hard.
good idea on the heat sinks, i was thinking about using pennies lol copper is copper... that i mean on the ram and on the (i think it is the nava) chip.
I would have the pc on its side not upright. maybe a box type case [|||]
i want to install the 120mm fan very simular to the lan-li case but i think i will leave the 360 board in the metal frame it already comes with. i dont want to risk any bending of the board if i remove the motherboard.
i will post pictures as i progress down this spiral of headaches and new discoveries.
thanks guys..

Don't use pennies. I did that to fix my RROD and it just caused the fans to spin really fast and it then overheated. I basically did this:
Heatsink
Penny
Chipset
The thing about it is that in theory, it makes sense because its copper, but its hard to get them flat and smooth, and they are a little too thick. You also have to find one that is old enough that is actually copper because the newer ones are actually just copper plated coins. I'd just look into a universal CPU cooler that you can maybe get some brackets to fit the 360.
