Error code 74 Problem. Help Please!!

Hey guys i m back. It has been a long time and now i m having a problem with a friends xbox 360. It is giving me a error code 74 and yes it is un-modded. I just wanted to know if anyone know here how to fix it or what i need to go to see or if they know where a tutorial is to fix this problem. I have looked on google but can't find nothing. Does anyone know where i can find a solution or does anyone know how to fix this problem. I don't want to send it into Microsoft just because it is going to costs a $100 and i don't have that kind of money right now. SO what do you guys think?

error #74 is related to the video signal // obviously check the av cable 1st
if the cable is good then you have either a problem with the scaler chip or the gpu.

i have checked the cable. I think i m having a problem with either the gpu or the scalar chip. So what do you think. Is there anyway to fix it?

has this been opened if not, then i think it has to be repaired by microsoft not completely sure though./

It's a hardware fix -
there are various solutions for this, but I think it's best to wait for sadalius on this 1...
I think he has a fair degree of experiance & knowledge with these problems & can offer you the best advice

how old is the console.
i think i have read that the xclamp may fix that error.

From my experience, e74 is cause by one or a multiple of these three things.

1. Video cable (Ruled out in this case since you've already tested it.)
2. Scaler or ana chip. (Not ruled out yet.)
3. GPU (Also not ruled out yet.)

Since you've already tested the video cable, we can rule that out. There is no feasible way to test the ana chip to rule it out without kind of assuming that the GPU is at least partially at fault. If you do a proper x-clamp on this 360, and it happened to be the GPU, it would fix it. Then you could rule out the ana chip. But if it doesn't fix it, even after tweaking the x-clamp replacement, then you could presume the issue is with the ana chip.

My friend had the same error caused by the (H)ana chip & GPU, X-clamp worked for a few days then it returned so i re-done the X-clamp & heat gunned it , Fitted the Wind Flow Shroud & removed the metal from where the fans are placed so it has a nice clear run, works a treat now!!!!

Even after being left on for 24hrs (12hrs COD4 playing) & 12(hrs of just FMV from PGR4), that was about 2weeks ago & it stil running well.
