flashing hitach GDR-3120L - V 47 DRIVE
HI - never done a hitachi before, just done 3 liteons...ok, ive got a ck3 pro and probe..im assuming when i press the hitachi button on the ck3 pro...it turns red....so now its in mode b ?....so need for slax cd...etc to get into mode b.....now im thinking of putting in ixtreme 1.4 for this drive as its the latest version....my questions are..
1. how do i read original firmware, make backup of keys and then flash the drive ?
2. how do i flash the drive ..what program do i use ?...or is 1.4ixtreme all that i need ?
cheers

If using modeB doesn't work (takes 2 presses of the eject button to eject drive) then you must use slax 2.1 cd.peacock wrote:HI - never done a hitachi before, just done 3 liteons...ok, ive got a ck3 pro and probe..im assuming when i press the hitachi button on the ck3 pro...it turns red....so now its in mode b ?....so need for slax cd...etc to get into mode b.....now im thinking of putting in ixtreme 1.4 for this drive as its the latest version....my questions are..

In the iXtreme1.4_Hitachi.rar just unrar it and run FLASHIX.bat. It will ask you for the drive letter of the drive, the speed of the firmware you want to use (12x), and I believe it asks you to specify the folder you want the files to be saved in.
Takes about 20 seconds.
Btw, my computer never recognizes Hitachi drives when they're connected to my VIA card. I have to use my onboard SATA port to pick them up.

ok mode b seems to be working as it takes two presses of the eject button on the ck3 pro to open and close the drive....however its not showing up in "my computer"...so how do i find out what drive letter it is ?....not showing up in device manager as well?.....tacyantific wrote:If using modeB doesn't work (takes 2 presses of the eject button to eject drive) then you must use slax 2.1 cd.peacock wrote:HI - never done a hitachi before, just done 3 liteons...ok, ive got a ck3 pro and probe..im assuming when i press the hitachi button on the ck3 pro...it turns red....so now its in mode b ?....so need for slax cd...etc to get into mode b.....now im thinking of putting in ixtreme 1.4 for this drive as its the latest version....my questions are..

drivers for the via card are installed...
do i need the usb connection as well?
ta
gonna try onboard sata ...as well
Re: flashing hitach GDR-3120L - V 47 DRIVE
no you dont need a usb connection or a slax for matter of the fact for a v47 drive,
try this uninstall the drivers for your card and reinstall them. make sure your ck3 has a mobe b option selected and connect everything up the sata and the ck3 and reboot the pc. once you load your windows... what windows do u have? go to my computer and see if it shows up. do not use slax or anything just normal bootup

For the few times I've ran into 47s and 59s I've had to use slax even though I've had connectivity kits.parminder wrote:no you dont need a usb connection or a slax for matter of the fact for a v47 drive,

Right above it it says what to enter in for the user name and password. Then use the restart command or whatever it is. It should show up as a regular drive in Windows m8.peacock wrote:ok guys..im going the slax cd way...anyway...right at the end when slax asks you to login ?.....what do you do..?
