iTunes 8 pwnage countermeasures

The iphone dev team says that the only way they can block current iphone/ipod pwning is by changing their hardware to fix the bug that they are exploiting. Well, now there is another way.
iTunes 8 now has enough intelligence to recognize whether or not a restore ipsw is legit or not. It also can tell if a connected device is running a legit firmware or not. Take a look at this pic:

The good news is that the hardware exploit still exists, even on the newly released devices. And that the dev team says they have already developed a patch for iTunes 8 MAC version so that it will work with jailbroken devices.
The bad news, if you really want to call it bad news, is that windows users will have to wait for the patch to be written for windows. Both windows and mac users will have to wait a little bit for the release.
