gotta question<

i modded a guys 360 a few months back then he got a red ring and when a friend of his came to him and asked him to have me mod his too he thought he would just sell his friend his drive. so without asking me if he could just swap drives he did it anyhow and broke it. He then calls me and asks me to fix it and i dont know how. i put the original drive (both were ms28) back in the 360 but it still gets an error. i believe it was error code 20. he says thats all he did was swap the drives.

i dont know what the prob is. u would think by puting the original drive back in it would just work but it dont. if anyone has any idea on what to dl plz help.

Obviously, he did something. There is no e20, but there is a secondary error code of 0020, which is an unknown error, but is thought to be an over heating error. Make sure to check everything, cables, and everything. Sometimes the simple things is what gets me. If all he did was swap the drives around, that shouldn't have really done much. Most likely an e66 error message, but could also be e65 as well. Without knowing what actual error its getting, its hard to tell you what to look at.

Yeah, me neither, at least for just a drive swap anyway. Just let us know what you've got and we'll try and help you out.

has the firmware been modded on the drive by this guy or his friend??

The drive needs to have the drive key that corresponds to the console - you can't just put any ms28 drive in, the drive & console keys won't match!!

Take a dump of the drive & check the firmware (also backup the all important key) ;)

Also check the sata cable has not been damaged - I have had some cases where people mess about with there systems & tehy don't really know what they are doing.. because if this they can remove the cables with too much force & damage them!! what I have done in the past if everything else checks out 1st is use a spare sata cable to check with ;)

In some cases (not many) it has been the root of the problem.

no the original drive was not flashed. its back in the xbox atm. he put a drive in the xbox that i had flashed months ago. im still trying to get the 360 back in my hands so i can try to fix it. ive done around 20 360s i just dont understand why swapping a drive then puting the original back in would cause an error. like the other guy said he might of pulled a wire lose or something.
