Passkey no longer Required :D

http://www.xboxhacker.net/index.php?PHP ... ic=10102.0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Good News!!!!!
Not quiet a soft unlock but close enough

http://rs117.rapidshare.com/files/13443 ... Unlock.rar" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Turorial:
1. Unrar the file
2. Burn the CD Image, I used ImgBurn....

3. Put 79 in Mode B
3. Insert the CD in the 79 and play the track, wait for it to finish...
4. Then press play again and straight away pause it, you should hear some noise
5. Eject the disk, using the eject button not the PC ( it does something different)
6. Run the the command in a command window
Unlock79 h
// where h is the drive letter of the 79
[this could be the command line]
[79unlock X]
[X = Drive letter]

// this will error regardless, ignore the error

7. If all went well bit 4 of (0x5BD) should be set and the drive should be unlocked
8. Drive will dump and flash with Toolbox...
9. This is a tempory unlock, (0x5BD) is in RAM and would need to be done each time you power the drive, although I've posted how to by pass this with the drive unlocked with a passkey.....

10. Has not been extensively tested but worked on 6 drives to day so far...

Thanks to OggyUK, mp3boy, Antman1 with the testing.... Also RKO Pheonix needs a mention as he unwittingly leant his 360 to Oggy today.... and Seventhson for the help early on and his fabulous blog

..............Details to follow... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I havn't tested this yet but it looks well ;)

Any of the staff that has a v79 Please try this ASAP and report you results. :D

here is a quick post on doing this.

modeb with slax
Play WAV
play then pause WAV
run 79unlock X
Use toolbox.

A couple of tips:
This is just some info that should help.
1 - I find VLC media player the best to use for step 4, you can double click the play button to do play/pause quick enough. Available free from http://www.videolan.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
2 - You need to insert a 360 game or DVD before step 8, just like if you were using a passkey.
3.Wont work in Vista 64 bit
4.Vista 32 worked fine.

Guys we need a guide on this bad. word with screen shots or video

yea
that looks cool.

well i have never even seen a v79(thank god)
but it is a sign that they are always working.
I bet maximus releases his softmod for the v79 now.It has been rumored that he has had one for months,but did not release it so he could sell more mod chips.
all we can hope for, is a lite-on fix soon.
even if it is a chip.

hahaha
just got the news.
there maybe a fix for the lite-on one day after all.
sweet.
what a weekend.
flashed my first 2 itouches,the v79 software flash,and now the CHANCE of a lite-on fix.
damn what a weekend.

So for now, you would have to reflash the drive for every boot up?

no
you have to do the whole thing every time you want to flash .
it does not lose the flash when you turn it off.

I hear that, I may actually get another 360 once the Liteon is cracked. I like the PS3, but the ability to play backups pwns all.
