Liteon 83850C Erase Problem

Hi There!

I've seen some Youtube viedos by folks claiming to be site members so thought I'd give you all a try.

I was recently trying to flash a Liteon 83850C with JungleFlasher 1.84, Windows XP, and a connectivity kit. I got to the "Erase," stage and JungleFlasher reported there was no flash type. I'm sorry I don't have the log, I'll explain in a second.

While I was trying to research what the problem was, I think my PC did a hardware scan, found the firnware-less DVD drive, and hung. Now, anytime I attach the 360 DVDdrive with no firmware, my system hangs.

Am I out of luck? Is there a newer tutorial I ought to be following to flash Liteons? Finally, I thought I had downloaded the latest LT1.9 software but, JungleFlasher loaded up, LTPlus-838v2v1.1.bin. Is that the current "state of the art," or do I need to find another download?

Thanks for your help!

the jungle flasher you should be using is
184 v 250

the firmware you should be running is v1.9 for your liteon

other than that you have to get the pc to not lock up or try it o a different pc
are you using onbo sata or is it a sata pci via card

After searching, I think I was suffering from classic Lite-On Freeze.

I've renamed the driver and gotten my VIA Sata Card (A PCMCIA Add on to my laptop - it's flashed sveral other drives successfully, including whichever Liteon requires the probe for key extraction) to appear as a yellow exclamation mark. But, now I don't see the drive. I just get the no VIA Ports found error message. If I file through the I/O Port drop down box, it lists only my local hard drive and DVD Drive.

Jungle Flasher claims PortIO32.sys is installed and it is also listed in device manager as, "Winford Engineering I/O Devices, PortIO32 Port I/O Driver."

What else am I missing? Something with the connectivity kit? I've got it attached through SATA, set to com (Vs. USB) and the blue mode light is on.

if your drive is erased
it mat not show up in jungle
you would just need to know your port and try to reflash that port

ive never had any luck flashing with a pcmcia card

Thanks for all the help so far. I got an X360USB and am able to mostly flash the drive now. I'm not getting the expected respone from the outro though. I load up my dummy bin for the key. Jungle Flasher asks to load LTPlus -838v1.1.bin but, I direct it to LTPlus-025v1.9.bin.

The flash works and verifies but, at outro it just confirms that the dive is Liteon without confirming the key.

Also, when I try to flash it back to stock, the L083 fails after I move the tray to wide open.

Any new ideas?

that sounds right
sometimes mine will not confirm the key
but the drive will work fine in the console
did you try after you flashed the drive and did the outro

I did try the drive out. I got the lower right flashing red light of hardware failure. Without the drive, it boots to some picka language screen.

I don't need to complete the L083 again? I'd like to flash back to stock and try again.

Thanks!
