It goes a little fast, but you can get the idea from it. It show the flat cable install.

Damn cofree, that take apart was quicker and smoother than yours! He didn't get hung up on that one part! 8-) Doesn't look too bad though. Seems like you would hve to be a little more careful to make sure none of those connections was touching.

Getting the epoxy off is pretty hard in itself. Not to mention the small soldering. You also have to keep in mind that this video is running about double speed too.

hi guys just to let you know done the 79 drive!! wow very hard and to small!!
things u need...
1 heat gun to remove epoxy and sharp scalpel
2 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0213382768 this is the wire you need if you are using the fcc or just the wires.
3 15w c15 solder iron with 0.12 tip.
4 maximus passkey with or without fcc (after this i would just use the wires no fcc) this is with just the wires. http://www.maximusgames.net/diagramas/DIAGRAM_V11.jpg
5 and last a very big maginfier glass!!!
6 flash as a 78.
hope this all helps but to tell the truth all this to to by pass the 79 to think its a 78 is alot of hard work. best to stay away from them or wait untill a sw is out where no solder is reqd!!
thanks bye for now.

hi here is a pic but i did mine in all the same coulor wire. the fcc is too hard to fit as you bridge the ties to easy so this is the wire pic i used to do mine. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f320/ ... all030.jpg .any more questions just fire away but i would stay away from the fcc if you want the drive to work, USE THE WIRES. much easier. p.s i was lucky i had 3 79 boards and managed to get it wright on the last so be carefull if you only have 1...
thanks again chaps
great forum. oh p.s the yellow resin in the is just to keep the wires in place incase you want to leave the pass key in for future updates. if you want to remove just remove the wires from the board LEAVE THE WIRES ON THE PASS KEY so only got to do the board side next time you do one.
