Re: Flashing Lite-on dvd drive with iprep v008.6
well you can input any 7 then 5 numbers you want
we do the ser number because its easier for us to keep up with who is who.
that com cable should work.
im not sure on the workings of your comport other than looking in your computer device manger.

you could try to get the key with jungle just dont try to erase it or flash it.
build your firmware and do the erase and flash back in iprep.

Re: Flashing Lite-on dvd drive with iprep v008.6
Yeah, use jungleflasher to see if it populates data about the drive with your current settings. If it doesn't, then you need to try different settings, com port, sata port, etc till it see's your drive. Then you can get your key.bin, identity.bin and inquiry.bin and such with jungleflasher, or once you've figured out the right setting to where it can see your drive, use iprep from start to finish.
Personally, I can use jungleflasher from start to finish, but if I couldn't, I would use jf to key the key, identity and inquiry files and build the hacked firmware, then use DOSFLASH in DOS mode to flash the drive. But thats just me. The reason I would do it that way is I think it's easier to use jf to tell if it's seeing your drive or not and you don't have to have the serial cable hooked up to flash with, just to read with.
Don't use jungleflasher to do the erasing. Just get the key, indent and inquiry files, build the hacked firmware and then just use DOSFLASH to flash with.

Re: Flashing Lite-on dvd drive with iprep v008.6
Those settings would be found in your computers BIOS configuration menu. When you first start your PC, there is a button to press to access the BIOS. It's different from PC to PC, some is the Delete button, alot of Dells use the F2 button, some use F1, but once you figure out which one it is, you just have to go through all the settings till you find it, then disable/enable what you need.

What did you use to get your 3 files? Jungleflasher? If you used JF to get those files, use JF to build the hacked firmware. Then what I would do is build a jump drive with iprep to make it bootable, then copy the DOS folder from the ixtreme 1.5 folder onto the drive and put your hacked firmware in the DOS folder as well. Then boot to the jump drive and use dosflash to flash the drive. There is a video in the tutorials section that cofree made on recovering the lite-on after jungleflasher freezing, thats how to do it.
