Just found this thread, OMG. Done the same reversed the power cable. I could still read the key etc. I have booted to dos and used l-o-eras and get ff72 then dosflash and it writes the firmware fine. But the drive still would not eject/work etc.
Having found this thread i checked my board for damage and it turns out R709 was burnt. Now ive bridged this with wire and its ejecting fine. But i was reading that this point should have a 100omh resistor on it. Is this true. Although R707/R708 there is no resistor but R710 does, can anyone comfirm please and hopefully this is the only damage

I screwed up a lite-on once, I just put everything back together nice and neat. I slapped seals back on and shipped it to M$ said it had RROD. They sent it back with new benq drive no problem.

This is an interesting thread. stuff happens. I might need this for future reference. Its sometimes hard to grab some good knowledge, I've got a couple tricks up my sleeve I haven't shared either.

Just a quick tip: If you take a sharpie and mark the drive/connector at the same time it will be really hard to put in upside down. I never bought the ck3 so I have to pull the power manually during flashing, never had an issue using the sharpie trick.
