Xbox 360 Ben Q Mod FAQ

I am getting the Internal Stack Overflow Error in iPrep?

If you are getting this error is beacuse you are using a SATA card not compatible with iPrep.

What SATA card do I need to be able to flash my Ben Q drive?

The only card guaranteed to work is the VIA VT6421A IDE & SATA RAID PCI Controller Card. The place were it is most cheap is in eBay look for it.

I have a SATA card on my motherboard, why does it not work?

It is rare for the sata on a mother board to work, even if its a via chipset. If its not a via or nforce you have no chance of getting it to work.

I'm having trouble with the whole flash thing, and sometimes it doesnt start, and sometimes it just stands still Writng a Bank in 0x7F or other kind of code, what is wrong?

Well mainly if the program stands still make sure you have connected everything well and if that doesnt work try with another plug of the SATA chip. If the program never finishes the flash or dump let the drive ON the second time the prgram asks you to turn it off.

If you cant do it and have tried everything else, download the new drivers because that can be factor with your problem.

Do I have to check the dumped firmare with Toolbox?

Yes, otherwise you may have the risk of losing your Xbox 360.

I am trying to create an ISO, do I need a SH-D162C Drive?

Yes if you try to make an ISO with another drive you are more likely to lose your time, your money and your ISO. It is recommended you buy this drive, now it is cheap on eBay go there.

Do I have to check the ISO I made or downloaded with Mulleter?

Yes do it because otherwise it will not play on you 360. Also to be sure download Xbox Backup Creator, and check the ISO with that. To be even sure download the latest version of Mulleter and Xbox Backup Creator.

Do I have to burn it with IMGBURN?

Yes do it with another program and it will give you error or the backup will just be obsolete and wont work on the 360. Be sure to put the download speed to x2.4 for more precision.

How am that sure of everything?

Because I had every trouble you may have enconter, check http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... &sk=t&sd=a for further info.

Good work Angelus!! I would like to add something though,

Code: Select all

Do I have to burn it with IMGBURN?

Yes do it with another program and it will give you error or the backup will just be obsolete and wont work on the 360. Be sure to put the download speed to x2.4 for more precision.
You can also use Xbox Backup Creator or clonecd to burn with. People have reported about the same amount of trouble with imgburn, Xbox Backup Creator, and clonecd, so I don't think it really matters which one you use. I use Xbox Backup Creator just to simplify everything in the amount of programs that I have to open to accomplish a complete backup from start to finish. Plus if you think your burns do better with imgburn, you can even set Xbox Backup Creator to use the imgburn engine to burn with, or even Nero Burning Rom for that matter.

Good post man.
Thanks for sharing your info. :D

There are a few thing I would like to point out. ;)
There are more than one card that will work.We have a tread for cards that work. They do all need the via6421 chipset.
Img burn is a good (free) program that works for burning your 360 games.Clonecd will do a good job also.XBC has a burn option in it to that work well.
You dont have to check the iso with mulleter for it to work, although it is a very good idea to check it.

These are just a few point I would like to make.

I know you worked hard to get your 360 mod going.
Have a good time and enjoy.

Thanks againg for sharing your info

I'll have to look into this cause that should not happen.

you should have started your thread for this question.
that being said. ;)

there is 3 ways to make a backup 360 game.
1.you use a sh-d162c flashed with kreon firmware.this is by far the best and easiest way to make a backup.
2.you can flash a sam or benq 360 dvd drive with a special firmware that will then mount to your computer .Then you can use the drive to dump the 360 game.this can be a trick to get the drive to mount to your computer.sometimes people can not get it to work.
3.hotswap and fixing with mullter.this is the last way and should not be done if you are going to go on live at all.

they are covered in this guide.

Hi, when it asked to input the serial number, it asks for 7 digits, space, 5 digits. But, the new Xbox 360's (as of March 2008) only have 11 digits running straight without a space. Does this effect anything?

Right, xbox has 11 digit serial number. iprep is asking for the first 7 digits of that, and then a space followed by the first 5 digits. For example, if my serial number on my xbox were 98013254670, the in iprep the 7 digit+5 digit combo would be 9801325 98013. Or you could just simply use 1234567 12345 and it would work just the same.

Ah, are you sure? I have an old Xbox 360 that starts with 7 digits, space, and then has 5 digits. My new Xbox 360 has 11 digits. As in one of the tutorials online said below, it doesn't state that you repeat the first 5 digits...

Type in the following command, using your Xbox 360 serial number found
on the back of the Xbox 360 case.

(we’ll use the serial number 1234567 12345 as an example)

dBen 1234567 12345 [press enter]

for iprep to work you have to have 7 then a space then the 5 numbers.
it dont mater what numbers you use.
those of us that flash more than 1 dvd drive it is easier for us to keep up with all the different firmware.
you do need to keep a copy of your orig firmware with a good key.
just in case you ever have trouble.

I appreciate you guys helping and I don't want to be annoying, but I still am not clear on exactly what you are saying. Let me explain one more time.

The old Xbox I have from two years ago, has a serial number that looks like this:
"1234567 (space) 12345"

My new Xbox 360 has a serial number that goes
"12345671234"

Notice that it does not have a space at all, and it has one less digit then the old serial number.

Now, what you guys are saying is to just use any random number for the dBen part? The guide by Textbook says to use the serial number on the back of your Xbox 360, so it doesn't make sense to make up a random number. Are you guys clear that their is a new serial number for the Xbox 360? Let me give a question, and you guys give the answer: If my serial number was 1234567ABCD, what would you put down for the dBen step when it asks for your serial number?
