Re: Hitachi 79 not reading mw2 backup
1.51 is in 'the usual places'...
As KASS says, do the restore first, and then flash the 1.51 in with your key. The one thing I would say is if you're planning on using the console for Live in any way (even for updates, divx etc.), hold off to see what happens with the LT firmware.

So my WD2500bevt is useless then?
I was under the impression that an update would mean an original console could use a 250gb hdd?

Re: Flashing a Hitachi GDR 3120l firm59
staningrimsby is right, the 79 unlock is used for 79's only... I would recommend trying mode b button on the ck3 first. Push the button to change the led to red. Connect the drive and power it up, test it out for mode-b. If the drive is still opening/closing, then you should be able to get windows t...

I love it how while people around him are chilling with a beer, he's throwing some right funky shapes
He would have had fun for a good few hours though...

Re: wave3 games
What firmware do you have on your drive?
Anything before 1.51 won't play Wave 3 games. I don't think anyone has had any problems backing up wave 3 with a Kreon, so it's more than likely the xbox drive itself...

Re: Any way to get the 4.1U update now?
The best bet would be to install hbc using bannerbomb, and then update to 4.1 using waninkokos updater. This will keep things 'open' for you...
As shoot says, do not update to 4.2. It deletes hbc and stops usage of any ciso's, meaning no loader of any kind

What's the error on the rrod??
And what do you mean by the clamps? It normally requires the clamps are exchanged for bolts. A lot of the time, I heatgun as well. I think it adds (a little) more life into them...

Just out of interest, what chipset is your motherboard??
I find it helps to set your sata mode to Legacy (SATA) in your BIOS with the onboard sata. What does your sata show up as in Device Manager?

Re: COM Port not detected
When you plug it in, does windows recognise anything?? Iirc, it should install as Prolific USB-Serial device... Sometimes, JF doesn't show any ports as available - you have to type it in manually. I've had to do this a few times. Check Device Manager to see whether you have anything showing there, i...
